Things to do

Whether you’re visiting for a family holiday, a romantic getaway for two or a solo excursion, there is plenty of incredible places to see and activities to try.

Here are a few things to do during your Lobb Fields stay

Lobb Fields is located within proximity of some of the UK’s best beaches. Saunton Sands – set within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – is a couple of minutes’ drive (1.5 miles) from the campsite and renowned for its miles of golden beach, stunning dune system and longboard-friendly waves. A few minutes further is surfy Croyde and, just beyond it, Woolacombe Beach, a sensational three-mile stretch which was recently ranked in the Top 25 Beaches in the World by TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards. Another must-visit sandy spot is the remarkable Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe.

Learn to surf or SUP

Croyde Surf Academy will take your surfing skills next level, whether you’re a beginner or intermediate, a five-year-old or 85-year-old.

Their belief is that everyone has their own strengths and abilities, and they look to utilise these during your lessons. They also offer a range of stand up paddle boarding (SUP) courses, from taster sessions to half- and full-day tours. Go and see them in the big blue bus overlooking Croyde Bay to kickstart your sessions.

Play golf

North Devon has some of the most enviable golf courses in the region. With spectacular views and championship links courses, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

🏌️ A few we’d recommend are Saunton Golf Club, Royal North Devon Golf Club and the Ilfracombe Golf Club.

Game, set, match

Whether it’s coaching or casual play, Tarka Tennis in the centre of Barnstaple is a great spot for some tennis. There are six indoor tennis courts and four floodlit outdoor tennis courts, with an additional two mini red courts for the little ones. Tarka is a ‘pay and play’ facility, so you don’t have to be a member to play there.
