Vacationing at Lobb Fields with your pup in tow? Here are a few dog-friendly beaches to visit during your North Devon getaway
While staying at Lobb Fields with your canine companion, you’ll be happy to find we’re located within easy reach of some of the UK’s most stunning beaches, many allowing dogs.
Saunton Sands beach welcomes dogs year-round and is the perfect destination for pooches who need a lot of exercise (there’s three-miles of soft golden sands to explore). In addition, you’ll find showers, surf shops and casual dining at Beachside Grill (which allows dogs on its sea-facing balcony).
Just a short drive or cycle from Saunton is the picturesque village of Croyde, a great place to peruse artisan shops and pubs post-dog walk on the beach. Just plan your trip carefully as the beach is out of bounds for dogs from April 30 until October 1.
A beach renowned for its tranquility and beauty, Putsborough allows dogs all year but, between Easter and November 1, dog-walkers are only allowed to use the far left of the beach.
A bit further along the coast is the large seaside village of Woolacombe. At this surfy spot there are separate zones where dogs are only allowed at certain times of the year (there is a sign at the entrance to the beach detailing the times). Essentially, the busiest parts of the beach don’t allow dogs from April to November, but further up towards Putsborough you can have your dog on a lead and further up still they can run free.
We also have our own dedicated dog path which runs adjacent to the campsite – so if you don’t feel like heading to the beach, you can walk them onsite. Please contact us is you have any questions abut bringing your pooch to stay with us.
